Following the sold-out debut at Sicily’s ancient Doric temple, Aura has announced its second showcase with Richie Hawtin headlining at Palazzina Cinese, an 18th-century royal palace in Palermo on June 1st.

The electronic music series, which places underground artists inside Sicily’s most significant heritage locations, drew widespread praise for its inaugural event at the Parco Archeologico di Segesta earlier this month. The debut edition completely sold out beside the remarkably preserved ancient temple, proving that electronic music and historical sites can work together in meaningful ways.

Luigi Biondo, Director of the Archaeological Park of Segesta, offered strong support for the series following the first event. “A connection between nature and architecture – this is exactly the path we shared with Aura, an event that brings the world together through music and beauty,” Biondo said. “The time has come to place our trust in young people, because they are the ones who will help us find new paths, and care for the extraordinary places that surround us.”

The June show moves to Palazzina Cinese, a royal residence originally built as a retreat for King Ferdinand III. The 18th-century palace on Palermo’s outskirts provides another stunning backdrop for Aura’s vision of electronic music within Sicily’s cultural landmarks.

Richie Hawtin brings serious credibility to the lineup. The techno pioneer founded the influential M-nus label and became a defining figure of the Windsor-Detroit scene through his Plastikman releases. From early ’90s warehouse sets to headline slots at Time Warp and DC10, plus his long-running Ibiza residency ENTER., Hawtin has consistently pushed the technical limits of live performance while remaining one of the genre’s most innovative artists.

Aura works directly with local authorities and site custodians to stage these events, with each edition contributing to regional tourism while raising the international profile of Sicily’s heritage locations. The Palermo show represents the second event in a broader 2026 programme, with additional locations and dates to be announced.

Horacio Cruz completes the lineup alongside Hawtin for what promises to be another unique intersection of electronic music and historical architecture. Given the complete sellout of the Segesta debut, tickets for the Palazzina Cinese show are expected to move quickly.
