YouTube is raising subscription prices across its Premium and Music plans in the United States, marking the first major increase for the service since 2023.

The new pricing affects several tiers of the platform’s paid offerings, including the standard YouTube Premium subscription as well as the standalone YouTube Music service.

Under the updated pricing structure, the YouTube Premium Individual plan will increase from $13.99 to $15.99 per month, while the Family plan will rise from $22.99 to $26.99 per month. The Student plan is also increasing from $7.99 to $8.99 monthly.

YouTube Music subscribers will see smaller changes. The Music Premium Individual plan will move from $10.99 to $11.99 per month, while the Music Family plan will increase from $16.99 to $18.99 per month.

According to YouTube, the adjustments are intended to help maintain the quality of the service while continuing to support creators and artists on the platform. A spokesperson said the company is updating pricing “to continue delivering a high-quality experience that supports creators and artists on YouTube.”

The updated prices are already active for new subscribers and will roll out gradually for existing U.S. users starting with billing cycles in June 2026.

YouTube Premium provides several features not available on the free version of the platform, including ad-free video playback, background listening, offline downloads, and full access to the YouTube Music streaming catalog.

The price increase comes amid a broader trend across the streaming industry, where services like Netflix, Hulu, and other platforms have also raised subscription fees in recent years as companies look to offset rising content and operational costs.

Despite the price hikes, YouTube Premium remains one of the largest subscription platforms in digital media, with more than 125 million subscribers globally across Premium and Music tiers.
