Miami Music Week Mostly Avoids Harsh Spring Break Measures in 2025
Miami Beach is again implementing stringent safety measures for Spring Break 2025 to deter disorderly behavior and ensure public safety. The entire month of March has been designated as a high-impact period, with the most significant measures planned for the weekends of March 13-16 and March 20-23. This year it seems that Miami Music Week falls outside of the hot seat — taking place the weekend after the biggest waves of restrictions.
More about the restrictions:
- Parking Restrictions: Closure of parking garages and surface lots south of 23rd Street, including prominent garages at 7th, 12th, 13th, 16th, 17th, 18th, and 23rd Streets. A $100 flat parking fee will be enforced for visitors at the Sunset Harbour Garage and the 42nd Street Garage. These restrictions do not apply to Miami Beach residents, access card holders, permit holders, or employees, provided they show valid proof upon entry.
- Traffic Control: Implementation of License Plate Reader (LPR) details on the eastbound lanes of the MacArthur and Julia Tuttle Causeways during peak weekends, starting in the evenings. Motorists should anticipate significant traffic delays due to reduced travel lanes.
- DUI Checkpoints: Establishment of sobriety checkpoints along the 400 block of 5th Street during the evenings of March 14-15 and March 21-22.
- Packaged liquor stores in the Entertainment District will strictly adhere to the 8 p.m. regular closing time.
- Vehicle Rental Suspensions: Suspension of rentals for golf carts, low-speed vehicles, autocycles, motorized scooters, mopeds, small-engine motorcycles, and motorized bicycles on March 13-16 and March 20-23.
- Ocean Drive Access: Limited vehicle access to Ocean Drive, with entry only from the northernmost available street and exit solely at 5th Street on specified weekends. Barricades will be placed to separate pedestrians from vehicular traffic.
- Towing Fees: Nonresident towing rates in South Beach will be doubled to $516 during this period.
- Beach Access Control: Beach entrances on Ocean Drive will be limited to 5th, 10th, and 12th Streets, equipped with security checkpoints to prevent prohibited items. These entrances will close at 6 p.m., and items such as coolers, inflatable devices, tents, and tables are prohibited
These measures will be in place during Music Week
- A flat rate parking fee of $30 for city parking garages and surface lots, with entry to garages closing at 6 p.m. to all visitors.
- Non-resident towing rate at $516.
- Beach entrances on Ocean Drive limited to 5, 10 and 12 streets with security checkpoints to ensure prohibited items are not brought to the beach.
- Liquor stores in the entertainment district to adhere to the 8 p.m. closing time.
Miami Beach residents, access card holders, permit holders and employees will be exempted from parking garage and surface lot closures, as well as flat-fee parking rates. For regular rates, proof of Miami Beach residency or employment (such as a pay stub, letter or ID card) will be required upon entry.
